Windows 10 is here!
And I have it and I really, really LOVE it!
Very cool and an easy upgrade … the download happened in the background and the install took 35 minutes on my machine.
Details this weekend.

Yep, Turkey in July!
A kind of perfect storm of circumstances:
And homemade rolls!
It took a day to thaw the bird and then my Monday work schedule got hectic, but this morning, after a Monday that didn’t break 60F…that bird went in the oven at 6:00 a.m. It should be done by 9-9:30 and then into the frig. I’ll deal with carving, etc. at lunch time and my turkey dinner will be a “heat up” when the time is right and I can enjoy. AND, I will have lots of leftovers in the freezer!
Proof of the cool morning: long pants and Auggie on my lap.
My work is crazy, crazy busy…but good and SO much fun…in between the frustration of learning new stuff and 2 deadlines, etc. Ultimately, though …SO much fun that I didn’t go to town this Saturday and stayed home working…BY CHOICE!
And to add to the tech fun, my almost 2 year old phone was wigging out so I did a factory reset which went VERY well and as all the “data” was saved to the cloud, it restored itself admirably…yes, lots of restarts and catching up on versions, but all in all, it was done in 2 hours with minimal interference from me. While 2 hours might seem a lot, per some reading online, some people were 4-8-12 hours for all to come right so…whatever…at the moment, I am happy!
Fires. Glacier National Park is the biggie, but we have a Type 1 team here and it IS the West and the West knows fire. Media hype is horrible. Meanwhile, weather tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday is poised to help things and hopefully the firefighters will get a handle on things … AND be safe. Because of the media hype and tourism, I have some worries that unusual risks will be taken. I hope to be very wrong.
Back on the home front…
Relaxing on Friday afternoon…
Clear, blue sky…the GNP fire smoke is blowing east I think. Here, it is clear.
The Fuschia continue to flourish. They are so beautiful and every day I am so happy to see them doing so well!
This is the first year in many years that I’ve had porch hanging baskets with gorgeous blooms. They add so much to the front porch and my kitchen window view.
Happy, happy boys…on Beardog Point.
Nothing better than seeing them together!
Saturday…inside light as the weather changes and thunder rumbles and hopefully rain comes as well…
…along the road home.
I was out with Bear…it was barely raining…I looked up to see this morning rainbow.
Happy Wednesday.
This is a bit of a teaser post, but there is a reason(s)…my work load is fuller than full and Champagne Grapes are available for a very short time!
I have some uses for them to share…but not the time to make all I’d like and photograph and etc., etc. …
Champagne grapes are tiny, very sweet, seedless grapes. I like them with almonds and lemon juice and butter cooked down as a fish or chicken topper. I have a new recipe to try for a rosemary-garlic-grape focaccia.
I found these at my grocery last week. In the past, I’ve only found them in a HUGE container at Costco. I was thrilled to find the smaller container…BUT thinking about ice cream made with these…maybe I DO need the large container.
Anyway. These are not grapes that are used to make Champagne. I’m not sure why the name. One source said maybe because they were like champagne bubbles ??? Whatever, they are a treat and a very seasonal treat and if you see some … BUY them!! It is fun to try new things and I’ll have some of my uses in a post ASAP.
And if none of my stuff appeals, they are good to just eat … Champagne Grapes – YUM!
I am doing far, far better than hobbling actually. The discomfort and achiness is minor and the swelling is mostly gone. I can wear shoes again!
I did get a cane, though…even though it sounded incredibly “elderly”!
BUT, it is All-terrain cane!
It is actually pretty cool…
And it can stand up on its own so none of the crashing to the floor kind of thing I had with crutches 12 years ago when I had to use those.
I also bought a calf-shin wrap designed to help runners with shin splints … and skipped getting the $500 orthopedic boot.
In the woods, I use the cane and 1 ski pole with the wrap and a good pair of running shoes … a little help with weight bearing and 3 point support. Additionally, all of the equipage reminds me to slow down and pay attention to where I’m putting my feet. I think most of my accidents have happened because I’ve been in a hurry and/or not paying attention.
Bottom line, I’m getting around fine but also remembering to take it a bit easy.
Not everyone needs help remembering to take it easy…
