In need of a nap

This last week of sunshine and warm temperatures has had Auggie out and about for nearly the entire day. He is in, mostly on the hour, to get a stomach rub, chin scratch and a bit of food.

AND…he has been bringing big, fat, mice! Srsly, he has been on a mouse bender!!

I don’t know if the mice are slow as they come out or if Auggie’s hunting skills have improved or maybe both. Prior to this, the prey gifted to me have been mostly voles. Voles are blind. Voles are about 1/3 the size of the mice that Auggie has been dispatching lately.

Much as I dislike having mice in the house… and I know they are rodents, etc., etc. Still…I am always a bit sorry to see the “bodies” and always wonder if there is a Mr. or Mrs. Mouse and/or baby mouses… Gah – the circle of life…

Ultimately, after all of that hunting and out and abouting…

Auggie was in need of a nap…

da Sun, da Sun!

Yesterday (Sunday) and today, it was not only 44-45F, it was sunny!

The snow has shrunk, it is drippy and slushy but the sun was so nice.

We’ve been out in the woods, but it is still hard for Bear and I so Beardog Point is a favorite spot to hang with the chairs and enjoy the sun.

We are past the mid-point of January.

I think I often decide to change up the blog look mid-January.

So, I lightened it up! And I updated the About page including a new photo of ME!

Photo taken this very day!

Meanwhile…the weather…it changed also.

It got warm.

As in above freezing.

And it rained on top of a new inch of snow.

STELLA!!!

Ok, not “Stella!”, but it was a cry of anguish from the Auggie-boy. I think he, as well as Bear and me, are a bit tired of not being able to go out in the woods as per usual. And then rain and mushy snow.

Gah!!

In the sunshine

This morning, the sky was clear and blue, the sun was out and we had a glorious morning out and about.

I tromped around and made some more of my “duck, duck goose” paths so that Bear and Auggie had places to explore off the driveway.

By early afternoon, it had clouded over and was gray again.

But we still went out and messed about.

This is the only evidence of the morning sunshine…

He is asleep!

Better than video

Yes, I liked that last video…the 2 snippets of Bear and Auggie. Sometimes some video action shows character that still photos do not. But, as I’ve written before, I am a TERRIBLE videographer! I imagine it is partly because I just do not enjoy it like I do still photography. And I am not current on editing tools, so it is always a “pain in the neck” kind of thing to get them posted. AND…although I do watch some YouTube on occasion, unless it is a cooking technique, I am bored if a video goes much more than a minute…even if it is video that I took!

All a preface to what I think is a hilarious sequence of still photos catching some Bear and Auggie action…
