It’s wrong!

8:17 p.m. on September 23, 2011 – the first day of Fall and it is 73F. It was 81 at the warmest late afternoon. Tomorrow it is forecast to maybe hit 90!

That’s just wrong!

I got to a stopping point shortly after 5 and found Bob near the front porch keeping an eye on a critter hole…lying in the grass like it was Summer!

He had been out all afternoon.

I brought him in so I could go out with Bear.

I sipped on a Friday night glass of wine while Bear chased squirrels and a warm wind sang in the tops of the pine trees.

The light looked like Fall but the air felt like Summer.

It’s wrong :)!

Tough guys

He doesn’t look so tough in that photo. It was a tough day, though.

Bear broke a molar and it was removed today. The roots of the molar were healthy. It was a job getting it out. Amazing to me, Bear was not acting uncomfortable WITH the broken tooth and it had been broken long enough that my clue that something was wrong was his breath smelled like a dead animal…yea.

It is now 7:30 p.m. Although he is still not quite 100%, we took a walk and he wanted to walk the loop so we did. He trotted around like normal, although I did have him on leash so he was bound my speed. He did want to come right inside and is sound asleep.

He had a gruel of chicken broth, quinoa and mashed potatoes for his supper and ate it all. I did give him his pain medication a bit ago, but I can’t say that he appeared to need it. One tough guy!

Bob…he was home alone until we got back mid-afternoon. It was cold and foggy this morning so he only went out briefly before we left, but it was sunny, clear and 62F when we returned so he enjoyed the late afternoon and early evening out and about. I will keep Bob in the boys room and Bear with me tonight. I feel bad doing that to Bob, but always want them close after a surgery so I know if there is any discomfort.

Hard…I have to be a little tough, too :)!

As noted, sunny, blue skies, gorgeous early almost Fall day.

Sunday stuff

Pate a choux from Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French cooking…

Plum jam from fresh California plums…

Warm puffs with warm jam :)!

A cat nap.

An eye on the squirrels.

Sunday Stuff

Before bed

Zack
Gus
Bob
Karl
Bear

My boys…all on my mind and in my heart this evening before bed.

Bob is in the bedroom, on the bed waiting for me.

Bear is at my feet, out last walk taken as the sun was low. He is doing so well on the short long line unleashed. He is with me all day and sleeps in the living room, but I can hear him as we are separated by only a gate.

All of them, the boys, they and I lived/live in a rhythm of our own.

This day: we narrowed the “plumbing” problem to the cold water feed to the washer. Hopefully only a plugged filter – I’ll pull all apart on the weekend.

Walks with Bear.

Time with Bob.

Work.

A dinner of chicken with a rub of almonds, 5 spice powder and garlic…and a cherry sauce.

More cherries pitted, sugared and mixed with basil for cherry basil soda syrup.

Broa dough mixed for morning “English” muffins.

Dishes done.

Night falls as I write this post that only I will see for some time. I am happy to be writing for myself for this time.

I miss Zack, Gus and Karl.

I read for a bit before mixing the dough…of Julia Child.

Peace. It is nearly dark.

I am comforted by Bob and Bear…this evening, before bed.
