Easter Morning

As the sun came up.

Waffles (Buckwheat-coconut!), pineapple and sausage for Easter breakfast.

An Easter Robin…first Robin I’ve seen this Spring!

A little rib roast getting ready for the oven. Dinner will be prime rib, fresh horseradish, baked sweet potato, white beans and braised greens.

It is a beautiful morning. Happy Easter!

Today

Today, March 28…it is Karl’s birth day. It was some 7 weeks from his birth day that he came to be with me and his cat brother, Gus, but we always celebrated the day he was born as well as the day he came home.

It is also 16 weeks exactly since Bear’s first TPLO – his right leg surgery.

So today we celebrate Karl’s birth and Bear’s 16 week post op – right leg – a GOOD day!

AND…FedEx brought a gift to help in all…

Last week, I ordered 2 prints “on wood” from Simply Color Lab. Simply Color Lab is my go to lab for prints, gallery canvas prints and now prints on wood.

I am so very pleased with the prints on wood.

They made me cry, but with joy and with pleasure.

I’m not sure this is the best place for these…I think they need a space that allows a little more space…

I’ve found, that for me, sometimes I need to live with things for a bit before I know where they belong.

For now, these dear reminders of my dear Karl – they are in a good place.

Sixteen weeks for the right leg and Two and a half weeks for the left leg.

We had a good day of walks.

And time outside with Bob.

Today.

Still a lot of lyin’ around going on

Day 3 post op – I am so happy to get beyond the first 48 hours. It is always hard to see a beloved pet not quite themselves.

Bear is still resting plenty but some of the initial bruising and swelling is much better and he seems more comfortable.

Getting the ice treatment after a walk. Walks have been going well. Bear uses the leg lightly which is what is wanted at this point.

Bear wanted to go under the dining room table this afternoon. I finally figured out that he wanted a cool corner like he has in the living room so I moved the table and the corner of the kitchen is a new spot. I tried putting a cushioned mat down, but he moved it. He’s happy so I let him be.

Later, though, back to the foam bed and some watching of his territory.

Bob has been very companionable and sometimes just walks up to Bear, touches noses and kind of looks like he’s asking how things are going.

I’m tired but did a better job this round of clearing my work schedule a bit. That has helped me relax and I guess since I don’t HAVE to get as much work done as usual, I’m getting close to normal. Go figure :) !

Bob goes to the dentist

Actually, Bob went to the vet and got his teeth cleaned…and one pulled.

I was happy to hear that all went well. Bob is 15ish. He has been my cat for 12 years and in those 12 years had never had any surgery or anesthetic. Age and the diabetes added extra risk. But the teeth needed to be cleaned and the bad one pulled so we just did it.

I am told that Bob woke up raring to go and quite vocal especially when one of the two clinic cats walked near. He had words with the veterinary tech that took care of him also. When Julie asked if there was any special technique to getting him in his carrier, I told her: “Yes, open the door.” Getting him in the carrier to go TO the vet requires some quick action on my part but he scoots in it without hesitation to come home.

He was a little unsteady when we got home but able to get a drink, use his box AND go up to see if there was any food in his bowl.

Then he went to bed.

A tough day for sweet old Bob, but it is over. I have to get 14 doses of antibiotics and 8 doses of pain medication in him over the next week so I’m saving risking my fingers for those must dos. Maybe in a few days he’ll be ready to show off his pearly whites voluntarily.

The boys

“Hey, Dog…your bed is over there!”

“Srsly…you can go to your own bed”.

“You are drooling big time, Dog!”.

“Can’t you do something about this?”

Between storms

Today’s Winter Weather Advisory for a potential powerful Winter storm was scaled down and broken in two. NOAA reported that the models changed from one storm to two “events” with a break in between.

They were right about the break. The sun came out this morning. It was in and out but mostly out all day and lots of blue sky overhead.

Bob enjoyed the sun in his own way.
