Three years of my daily “no knead” bread

A bit over three years ago, I made my first high moisture, no knead, artisanal bread.

Despite having made traditional kneaded doughs for over 25 years, the high moisture, no knead method was the FIRST time I was successful at making an artisanal crispy crusted, custardry crumbed bread…the kind of thing I had been paying $6.00 a loaf for!!!

Over these past three years I have enjoyed perfect bread, english muffins, grilled flatbread, pizza crust, bagels and pastries from simple mix and stir and store recipes from: Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day.

This past week a revised edition of the book was released and it is ON my Kindle Fire and with me wherever I go: The NEW Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day

Flatbread and boule: Peasant Bread dough

The crumb.

The golden larch and the blue sky.

Happy Birthday Bear! …and other beautiful things

Happy, Happy Birthday, dear Bear Boy – AND MANY MORE!!!

Yep, right there, that’s the spot…

Rubs and scratches and extra treats for Mr. Bear who turned 9 today!

On this very beautiful day.

We’ve had absolutely gorgeous weather with sunny days in the mid to upper 50’s (F) – Bear and my favorite temperature range!!!

Blue skies.

Gold Autumn leaves.

Perfection.

This morning…

Bear and I were down the road home fairly early for a birthday extra Jeep ride and walk.

It was well worth it for not only the getting out and about and birthday, etc. but also for the scenery…

Beautiful.

…some of us thought the blue sky and sun was a bit much…

When Montana decides it is Fall…it IS Fall!

The road home.

This afternoon.

A late work day yesterday (Tuesday).

A very early start today (Wednesday).

At 5:00 p.m. on the dot (Wednesday) – I called “THE END”!

Bear and I took a Jeep ride.

On the way back…

I spied…

SNOW!

Oh, yes.

Mountain Snow.

Hoo…I say….HOO-RAH!!

A beautiful morning

Coffee’s on, oven’s heating, dough for bread is rising.

6:30 ish a.m.

Bear and I walked out to the teepee, took a right and followed the Nature Trail to a summit we like.

The swing is just in front of the teepee.

Light in the sky on our return turned the morning sky pastel pink and blue.

The green area is the RV park – beautifully landscaped to provide shade and privacy.

Such a beautiful morning for Bear and me.

Mid morning, I took a break for a Jeep ride with Bear and a walk along the Missouri on our loop walk at the state park.

We passed Big Sky Animal Medical Center. I had planned to phone and let them know I was in town and to see if they could let the crematory know…

As I passed, I just felt like I should stop.

I did.

Carly was helping someone else but she saw me, smiled and said “I was going to phone you next”.

Bob’s ashes were back from the crematory and I have them. The crematory put together a most beautiful and comforting package which included a certificate, a packet with a tuft of Bob’s fur and Bob’s ashes in a gorgeous tin painted with pansies.

I love pansies.

It all caught me a bit off guard. The fur nearly undid me. But, ultimately, it was all comforting.

I don’t believe that Bob’s spirit is in the earthly remains, but for me, it is comforting and helpful and I am so grateful to have this part of him with Bear and I as we go home.

A beautiful morning, in all ways.
