Monday evening surprise…clear evening skies: half moon (photo taken 5/28/2012)
Against all odds.
After a sunny morning, skies turned dark. It rained. It snowed. It was colder at noon than at 7:00 a.m.
But by early evening, the skies cleared again.
May Day Moon.
Last evening’s moonrise (Thursday 4/5). The moon could not quite clear the wispy dark clouds that kept floating in front of it but it was still pretty. The day had been sunny, a bit brisk, but just perfect for being outside walking or doing chores. Bear and I had an extra long walk and then dawdled in the meadow to watch the moon (me) and hunt little critters in the grass (Bear).
Moonrise in April.
It was a beautiful clear and sunny day.
Bear and I went out about half an hour before sunset to walk and play and enjoy the beautiful evening. The snow covered mountain tops glowed against a clear blue sky that got bluer and bluer as the evening progressed.
The setting sun looked like fire through the woods.
And finally…
…the full moon.
This afternoon. Bear and I walked the loop. And it was beautiful. It was nearly 5:00 p.m. and I hoped to see the moon rise…
…missed it on the walk but as I worked into the evening, it appeared out the window, lighting a few clouds…
…and casting its light over the icy driveway.
It continues to keep me company as I work a bit later tonight. Deadline to meet. Monday.
