Monday afternoon

Clouds piled up over the mountains this afternoon.

The air was clear, the colors pure.

Thunder rumbled from small storms that missed my house except for a few drops of rain.

I haven’t been letting Bob out except early morning but I had a talk with the Yellow Jackets…

Bob was fine and enjoyed some fresh air on this Monday afternoon.

Light and shadow

Aside from some early morning chores both inside and outside, I mostly close the house, fire up the A/C and we hibernate in the cool, dark house until early evening when the temperatures become comfortable enough to venture out again.

I was watching a movie in the bedroom Saturday afternoon and noticed the light and shadow in the living room.

Something about the contrast, the bounce of light against the ceiling and the red glow through the shade enticed me to fetch my camera.

And then a shadowy head appeared: Light and shadow.

A change in the weather

The forecast from NOAA late this morning indicates we are in for a bit of everything.

The verbage for this afternoon, evening and tomorrow states that in addition to the sunshine giving way to clouds, two cold fronts will whoosh through…emphasis on the whooshing as high winds are forecast.

On the way back from town this morning, I could see the change happening: Blue sky and sunshine to the east was starting to give way to dark clouds.

The clouds were smoothing out with the promised wind.

Spots of sunshine dotted the peaks of the peaks that border the southern end of the Flathead Valley. A bit of lake occasionally reflected bright from some sun.

Now, early evening, it is dark and windy. It is hours until sunset but the black clouds and gusty wind signal a change in the weather.

Earlier this week, I took some quick video of Bear walking in the woods to show Dr. Clark when we go for our 8 week xray this coming Friday. It is a short, no frills video with a snippet of Bob at the end. It is very jumpy. I took it with my phone, walking behind Bear…in the woods. Still, it shows Bear walking comfortably and normally at a good pace over uneven ground. It is hard to believe that here we are – end of week 7 and starting week 8. Hurrah! And Bob’s ear has not puffed up so hopefully we are done with the Yoda ear part. I expect it will take some time to fully eradicate the yeast infection, though.

Is she there?

Right outside my window.

Extremely overexposed.

A “bad” photo.

BUT.

I love the essence of this so much.

I keep looking.

She is there.

’tis the season

Bear and I headed to town for an early shopping trip – a 13 hour sale! – and a walk.

I intended to walk at a spot near the store but when we passed the river fishing access there were only 2 trucks with empty boat trailers so I turned around…

I would have missed the sun lighting the contrails as it rose from behind the hill where the cross sits if I’d entered the access as normal or hadn’t turned around.

And we had a beautiful walk by the river.

Morning glory

I made an early morning run to town to catch a big sale at a favorite natural food store. It was such a gorgeous morning. This week I was out early on Monday and Tuesday for Bear’s surgery and now this morning. I turned to Bear, who was watching the scenery and told him that we needed to go out in the morning more often!

Out, as in down out of the trees to see the sky and the clouds and the light in the valley.

On a roll, I took a detour turn on the road to Somers. Bear and I do not walk the trail in Somers like Karl and I did. There are more people and dogs and they are developing things along the trail … just not the best for Bear and me.

But, the road is scenic and there is this barn that I love. It has been painted since I last was past…a perfect red.

Later, after returning home…

Morning glory.
