Away game

Bear and I are parked at Auntie Kris and Uncle Hal’s. The accomodations are VERY nice and came with a wonderful dinner as well as good company and excellent dog walking.

This morning, even in the overcast – beautiful!

We walked as very light flurries fell to the frosted field.

The bit of light to the right is the house and the bit of white to the left is the motorhome.

Some of us got a little nosy…

Up the hill…

…and take the beardog shortcut to our “away” home.

***NOTE: 6:00 ish p.m. Bear and I returned to our house;home in the vicinity of 3 p.m.ish give or take and Fall Back ish…. A wonderful short trip and visit. A good shakedown trip for Bear and I, for Wild Thing (motorhome), for Bob-and caretakers of Bob… Bear and I are set to leave for parts South…weather permitting…mid-November!

The Stories

This photo, taken this evening (9/27) at 7:00 p.m. tells several stories…

It was warm enough for shorts – 71F at 7:00 p.m., 25 minutes from sunset. Fall light, summer temps.

The motorhome is parked. We are not in it and are not travelling.

Karl and Bob are happy and relaxed. All is well in our world :)!

Karl is doing well. We made a second try to use the medication that is preferred, but things started downhill again – I recognized the signs and stopped. We are on the medication that he tolerates well, that keeps him comfortable and allows him to do all that he loves to do. AND, I am supplementing that with some homeopathic nutritional things that work with the medication. And most important – everyone’s prayers and support – Thank you all!

I didn’t take the trip I planned as the timing was difficult – not just for how Karl was feeling at the time, but work and $$…my Blue Cross will not cover Karl’s medication or vet bills…can you believe it??? :)! But, the good news is that it has been so beautiful here and we are all comfortable and enjoying a gorgeous Autumn.

Dear friends, blog readers, veteran visitors to the front porch, Sandy and Jerry, from North Carolina, are, as I write, in MY time zone. They travel as I do – not much in the way of planning -so depending on how they proceed, Karl, Bob and I will wait here or meet them somewhere in the motorhome. And if we wait here, then, I still hope to get out and about – even if very close to home – for a bit of an rv adventure.

That’s it – from the photo….the stories.

Just another Friday at the office

Girls love their shoes and Wild Thing is no exception…4 new ones were the order of the day, this Friday.

Two of her six “shoes” are new from two years ago. The remaining four were due to be replaced a year ago. I have an upcoming trip which you all are welcome to come along on via From the Front Porch. I hate planning trips. Wild Thing will be departing some time after September 1 and no later than September 11. September 11 is the most likely, but you never know :)!

To the point…I was not risking another trip on the old tires.

Karl (see the black furry back end) and I parked behind the Kalispell Tire-Rama, hoisted Wild Thing on her own leveling jacks and let the techs from Tire-Rama mount, balance, shuffle and install, while we napped/worked respectively.

The cold front arrived the night before – the day was pleasant – and we were out and about with visions of an upcoming adventure in our heads. Just another Friday at the office.

RV morning

Through the window and past the lilac bush the sun comes up over the mountains and through the woods.

The beardog enjoys the morning – off leash…the rules here are wonderfully lenient!

And camp coffee, always the best!

RV morning.

Summers’ RV Park

The short story is that I had intended to leave early this morning for Costco/grocery …then decided I’d take the motorhome as it needs a run and would be cooler for Karl as I can run A/C off the generator when it is parked (plenty of space to park it where I shop). THEN decided that as long as I was doing that, why not take a run around the lake and maybe stay somewhere overnight if I found a spot I liked…and THEN decided why go to Kalispell, will just head around the lake – there is a Safeway I like in Polson (south end of the lake) so can get everything I want there… which I did but ended up coming home as it is hazy and sultry so wasn’t really looking like being outside would be nice and the place I had in mind didn’t have a great spot.

The spot I tentatively planned to stay overnight was just north of Polson on Highway 93. But when I decided that I would rather just go home, I about-faced which took me back across the river and through Polson…

Across the bridge.

Through Polson.

The Safeway.

Along the south east edge of the lake on MT 35…preparing to turn north towards Bigfork.

A quick stop at Bowman Cherry Orchards for some Rainier cherries…

…and some Flathead Cherry Wine! I bought a pound of Rainier cherries and a bottle of cherry wine. This particular bottle is a blend of pie (tart!) and sweet cherries – labeled a medium dry by Bowman.

So, currently, Bob, Karl and I are set up in the motorhome at home…central air and what we needed was here and it just shakes up the routine a bit, even if the house is just on the other side of the garage. It is thundering and dark and the A/C covers the noise. I get 1 tv channel and have Antiques Roadshow on which I never saw and am partly fascinated and partly just liking the human voices while I do the post and think what I want for my supper. Neither Bob nor Karl wanted out when we arrived at Summers’ RV Park.
