Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of a Mexican (state of Puebla) victory over the French… a while ago.
In the Western U.S. at least, it is celebrated – I think partly because there is a large population from Mexico as well as …HEY! – its a party and it involves margaritas and Mexican food and beer. YAY!
I am all for it.
And, I am ready.
Mint. Newly available “live” just like the basil. It doesn’t have anything to do with Cinco de Mayo but I found it gathering the other stuff and it is so PRETTY on the window sill.
O Corona! I did not buy tequila for margaritas as I LOVE tequila and I love it a little too well to have it around during the work week.
I like Corona. And I found limes for only 68 cents!!! – they have been over a $1.00 lately. Corona and limes.
I like Corona and lime but I can behave with it.
It might change, but my Cinco de Mayo week menu includes fish tacos with mango-pineapple salsa, fish enchiladas verde and a LOT of guacamole.
I don’t think the rhubarb is going to make Cinco de Mayo, but it is doing well!
Mostly, courtesy of my neighbors, the firewood area is looking a bit neat. They needed a bit of firewood to finish the year and I needed to get some firewood…some that might have rotted had it gone through another summer…gone!
Win-WIN!!
I did do a bit of cleanup and I need to do some shuffling/re-stacking also. Every year I say…a couple of 15 minute sessions every day…in the yard…would be good for me and for the yard and the woods, etc.
So, again.
THREE 15 minute sessions most days is my goal! Good exercise, good breaks in my day and a little work every day gets things done.
Let’s do it!
A not so beautiful sight…Wild Thing’s windshield did NOT survive the Winter, even with my tarp…
RATS!
I knew it had to be done but I had hoped for another year.
Some things done and some Spring.
***I have my alarm set for 1:30 a.m. I very much HOPE that skies are clear. If it is not hopelessly cloudy (forecast is for an approaching front), Bear and I will go to the “Road Home” spot and see if we can see AND photograph the Lunar eclipse. The timing is so perfect. With moonrise at just after 8 p.m., the eclipse at 2:00 a.m. should be straight overhead…I hope, I hope!
Did you really want to look at 132 photos of Bear, Auggie and the yard?
Right.
Another gorgeous day of sun and blue sky and a high of 67F at my house this afternoon.
There was a brisk breeze during the afternoon and a soft, warm breeze this evening as Bear and I had our evening walk just before sunset about 8:00 p.m.
Auggie spent most of the day outside. He came in about once an hour to meow for some attention and get some food. It was after 5 when he finally seemed worn out and ready to stay in.
It is Thursday evening as I’m writing this after a full work week that went better than last. I was determined to stay on track this week even though I have a short Friday … takin’ the Jeeper for fresh oil and tire rotation tomorrow afternoon…so my plan has been to get my work week in my Friday noon. So far, so good!
But, work has not kept me inside all of the time.
It has been sunny and 50ish since Saturday.
The big snow piles are slow to go…
But the first new Spring growth is poking out of the ground … the day lilies!
This was like a flashback…it looks so like Bob and I’d dreamt of Bob just the other night. It wasn’t a nice dream, but this made me laugh and replaced the leftover bad from the dream with happy memories of Bob hunting in this very spot and sitting just like Auggie was.
Later, Bear on Beardog point. Auggie heard me out front and is watching to see if we will be going for a walk.
